Stock Market Closing News -Sensex, Nifty Fall Sharply on Expiry Day

Stock Market Closing News:

The Nifty ended July series F&O at 7721.30, down 70.10 points or 0.90 percent at 7721.30. The Sensex fell 192.45 points or 0.7 percent at 25894.97. About 1431 shares advanced, 1488 shares declined, and 122 shares were unchanged. Banks were hurt most in today's trade. Bank Nifty dragged over 1 percent. HDFC twins, SBI, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were top losers in the finacial counter. Among the losers in the Sensex were NTPC, M&M and Tata Power. Cipla, Tata Steel,  GAIL, Coal India and Bajaj Auto were on buyers list today.

Indian Share Market Closing News - Pharma, Banking Stocks Help Sensex Regain 26,000

Share Market Closing News:

Equity benchmarks bounced back after two-day fall. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 96.19 points to close at 26087.42 while the 50-share NSE Nifty rallied 42.70 points to 7791.40 ahead of expiry of July derivative contracts.

 About 1403 shares have advanced, 1488 shares declined, and 121 shares are unchanged.

Bharti Airtel topped the buying list, up 5 percent followed by Hero Motocorp, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, HDFC, Lupin, PNB, Kotak Mahindra Bank and DLF with 2-4.5 percent. However, L&T dropped over 7 percent post weak earnings in Q1.

Today Stock & Nifty Market Opening News :

After two-day fall, equity benchmarks opened flat on Wednesday. The Sensex declined 40.44 points to 25950.79 and the Nifty lost 2.50 points to 7746.20. About 306 shares have advanced, 187 shares declined, and 45 shares are unchanged.

 Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro plunged nearly 8 percent post Q1 earnings. Sesa Sterlite and IDFC declined 2-3 percent on weak earnings in June quarater. HUL, Sun Pharma, BHEL, Ambuja Cements and DLF lost 0.4-1.3 percent.

However, Bharti Airtel and ITC gained 2-3 percent on strong earnings. M&M, Hero Motocorp, ONGC, Power Grid Corp and Asian Paints rose 1 percent.

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade today. It has opened lower by 12 paise at 60.24 per dollar versus 60.12 Monday.

Indian Share Market Closing Live Update : Sensex closes below 26000; HUL gains 3.5% on Q1 nos

The market fell for the second consecutive session on Monday with the Sensex falling 135.52 points to 25991.23 and the Nifty shedding 41.75 points to 7748.70.

 About 1194 shares have advanced, 1656 shares declined, and 120 shares are unchanged.

Hindustan Unilever surged 4 percent after reporting stellar performance in Q1FY15. HUL surpassed street expectations on every parameter with the first quarter (April-June) net profit growing 3.7 percent year-on-year at Rs 1,056.9 crore driven by strong revenue and operating performance. Profit in the year-ago period was Rs 1,019.3 crore.
The CNX Nifty was down 63.55 points or 0.82% to 7,726.90. The index hit a low of 7,722.65 in intraday trade, its lowest level since 22 July 2014. The index hit a high of 7,799.90 in intraday trade.
