Japan's Nikkei share average climbed to a fresh
seven-week high on Tuesday, extending gains into a fourth day as recent upbeat
Chinese and US data continued to lift investors' risk appetite.
The Nikkei was
up 0.8 per cent at 14,724.84 in midmorning trade after touching 14,732.68, its
highest since April 8. It rose 1 per cent to 14,602.52 on Monday.
Index
heavyweights surged, with SoftBank Corp rising 1.7 per cent and Fanuc Corp
gaining 1.2 per cent.
The broader
Topix gained 0.7 per cent to 1,202.64, while the new JPX-Nikkei Index 400 added
0.7 per cent to 10,971.03.

Nifty India stock futures in
Singapore were trading 13 points lower at 7,360 indicating a flat-to-lower
opening on the domestic market.
After crossing the 25,000-mark in early trade, the Sensex retreated to
end with a marginal rise of 23.53 points at a fresh record close of 24,716.88,
while Nifty closed with a marginal loss of 8 points at 7,359 after making an
intraday high of 7,503.
