Stock Market Opening Bell Nifty May Open Flat; Indicates Positive By CapitalHeight

Stock Market Opening News :- The SGX Nifty, trading 2.50 points at 7027 on Thursday at 7:36 AM indicates a flat to marginally positive opening for the 50-share Nifty. Asian markets were mixed with Nikkei marginally up and Hang Seng trading in the negative. US stocks closed higher as some stabilization in oil prices offset declines in financials to help stocks recover from an intra-day decline of more than 1.5 percent.  The Dow Jones reclaimed a 266-point drop - its largest recovery of losses by points since 2008 - and then went on to close up 53 points. European equities closed lower as commodity stocks took a sharp tumble, while fresh earnings failed to elevate investor sentiment. With further decline in metal prices, Glencore and Anglo American closed over 10 and 9.5 percent lower, respectively. Among currencies, Sterling tumbled to a seven-year low on heightened fears of a possible British exit from the European Union, while the safe-haven yen gained broadly. In commodities, crude prices gained as strong US gasoline demand offset worries over record high crude stockpiles

Stock Market Closing Bell Nifty hit low of 7,024 By CapitalHeight

Stock Market News :- The stock markets extended losses in the last hour of trade. The Sensex fell as much as 302 points and the Nifty hit low of 7,024.

2:45 p.m.: The market breadth was bearish as 1,661 stocks were declining while 788 were advancing.

1:50 p.m.: Selling pressure intensified in afternoon trades as the European markets opened on a weak note. The Sensex was down 210 points at 23,200 and Nifty fell 57 points to 7,052.

1:28 p.m.: From the Nifty-50 basket of stocks, 15 stocks were advancing while remaining were declining. BPCL was the top gainer, up 3.6 per cent to Rs. 762. Yes Bank, Power Grid, Bank of Baroda, Infosys and Axis Bank were among the gainers.

1:14 p.m.: The Bank Nifty which fell over 1.5 per cent earlier in the day was down 0.48 per cent. Buying was seen in Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Yes Bank, Axis Bank and Punjab National Bank.

Stock Market news  : - The Budget  session  in Parliament has begun with President Pranab-Mukherjee asking     politicians todebate and discuss and not disrupt or obstruct Parliament. Ahead of the railway budget on Thursday, stocks linked to the sector which usually have a run-up have lost track with some like Kalindee Wagon and Titagarh Wagon losing over 8% intra-day on Tuesday. The Railway minister is expected to depend more on External Budgetary Resources (EBR) to keep the engine chugging.The results of latest round of FICCI’s Economic Outlook Survey put across a median GDP growth forecast of 7.4% for the current fiscal year. This marks no change from the estimated growth in the previous survey round, but is lower than the advance estimate of 7.6% put forth by the Central Statistical Organization recently. The outlook is a flat to negative start. On Wall Street, Indian ADRs HDFC Bank and  ICICI Bank slipped by 4-5%. Asian markets are mostly lower. US stock indices tumbled on Wednesday after a crack in oil prices sent energy and bank shares sharply lower. Dow declined 1.1%. S&P 500 lost 1.3% while Nasdaq slumped by 1.5%.Crude oil prices sank after Saudi oil minister's comments dented optimism built by a proposal between Russia and Saudi Arabia to freeze production. Separately, a popular gauge of US consumer confidence fell to a seven-month low in February. Investors will now look forward to important readings on inflation, durable-goods orders and a second estimate of 4Q GDP, due later this week.

In previous session also ahead of OFS announcement, the stock lost more than 2 percent. The government is going to sell 41,22,73,220 equity shares (representing five percent stake) in NTPC via offer-for-sale (OFS) with hopes of collecting around Rs 5,000 crore. Stake sale is spread over two days with non-retail investors (institutional bidders) getting the first chance to participate in OFS today. On second day, retail as well as non-retail investors are allowed to buy shares.

Stock Market News :- Experts feel the market may remain range bound ahead of expiry of February derivative contracts due on February 25 and Union Budget that is scheduled to be announced on February 29. \he market closed higher for fourth consecutive session on Monday, driven by oil & gas, pharma, metals and select banks stocks. Positive global cues also supported Indian equities. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 79.64 points to 23788.79 and the 50-share NSE Nifty reclaimed 7250 intraday, up 23.80 points to close at 7234.55 amid volatility. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks with the BSE Midcap rising 0.75 percent. Experts feel the market may remain range bound ahead of expiry of February derivative contracts due on February 25 and Union Budget that is scheduled to be announced on February 29. Investor concerns currently are veering toward the Budget as there are obvious worries with respect to rumours of the definition of long-term capital gains period being changed, says C Jayaram of Kotak Mahindra Bank. However, consensus view is that the Budget will be largely positive as expectations are low. Jayaram says, post the Budget, there is a possibility that the market may form a firm bottom on the back of feel-good factor and then move ahead.
