Pre-opening: Will strong IIP drive market to record highs

Growth engines seem to be firing once again in Indian economy as industrial ouput accelerated to 4.7 percent in the May, the highest in 19 months. Manufacturing and consumer durables also showed signs of a revival.
However, last week was worst in 15 months on Dalal Street as market succumbed to selling pressure. Major indices shed over 3.5 percent last week, the biggest weekly fall since March last year. In key macros today, WPI and CPI will be released today. According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, WPI for June is seen easing to 5.61 percent month-on-month. More eyes will be on CPI for June which is seen softening to 7.45 percent.
The confusion over the general anti-avoidance rules GAAR continues to irk investors. The market was hoping that the Budget will further defer the implementation of GAAR, but that was not to be. 

Minister of state for finance Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the rules as they stand will be applicable from FY15-16. The government clarified later saying that the new Finance Minister is yet to take a final decision.

Latest Stock Market News –Nifty below 7500, Sensex crashes 348 pts

The Sensex fell 308.72 points or 1.22 percent to 25064.03 and the Nifty lost 102.50 points or 1.35 percent to 7465.25. About 704 shares have advanced, 2158 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged.
Cera Sanitary falls despite good nos in Q1 Cera Sanitary has reported first quarter (April-June) net profit at Rs 13.6 crore, increased from Rs 11.1 crore in same quarter last year. Net sales jumped to Rs 162.3 crore from Rs 126.6 crore during the same period.
BHEL kept its top position in the selling list, falling 7.5 percent followed by SBI, Larsen & Toubro, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, NMDC and DLF with 4-6.5 percent. However, the buying continued in healthcare, technology and FMCG shares. TCS, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy's Labs gained more than 2 percent. Infosys, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Wipro and Hero Motocorp climbed 1-1.5 percent.

 The S&P BSE Sensex began post-budget trade on a positive note led by gains in IT sector after Infosys BSE 1.56 % reported better-than-expected net profit during June quarter.
Just when the market was on its way to a closing high, edgy traders found an excuse to sell. Fears over the fate of a Portuguese bank, BancoBSE 1.98 % Espirito Santo, that not many Indian investors have heard of sparked fresh Eurozone concern, splashing cold water on the optimism. 
. The Sensex is up 92.10 points at 25464.85, and the Nifty up 44.20 points or 0.58% at 7611.95. About 802 shares have advanced, 367 shares declined, and 28 shares are unchanged.
It was a rollercoaster ride with the BSE Sensex falling 72.06 points, or 0.28%, to close at 25,372.75. Indications are that Banco  Espirito may haunt the market on Friday with Dow slipping 1% in early trade ..
The Sensex, which hit a low of 25,117 earlier on Thursday, rose 803 points to the day's high of 25,920.46. NSE's Nifty declined 17.25 points, or 0.23%, to 7,567.75.

The market seems to indecisive ahead of the Budget to be presented by Arun Jaitley today at 11 am. The Sensex is up 14.84 points at 25459.65 and the Nifty is down 2.25 points at 7582.75. About 648 shares have advanced, 1112 shares declined, and 47 shares are unchanged.
